Our History
SJM Resorts, Limited (SJM) has been the pioneer of Responsible Gaming (RG) in Macau. The plaque craved with RG motto was placed in Casino Lisboa more than 40 years ago.

SJM Social Commitment
SJM endeavours to offer customers, guests and public with a RG environment and will carry on committing and achieving such indispensable element of our operations.
SJM cooperates and supports in the compliance and fulfilment of all relevant Macau SAR Government requirements, laws and regulations that aims to promote responsible gaming and to mitigate the risks of gambling disorder.
Legal Gambling Age
The Macau SAR Government prohibits individuals under the age of 21 from gambling in or entering any Macau gaming facilities. SJM strictly complies with to this regulation on age limit by placing clear entry restriction signage and implementing age verification at all SJM casino venues.
Social Services Sponsorship
SJM has partnered with Yat On Centre (YOC), a non-profit social service organisation, since 2006, to promote the socially accepted gaming attitude and behaviour. SJM has been sponsoring YOC for the RG services provided, RG research, RG promotions and activities. YOC also periodically arranges onsite promotion and counselling services in selected SJM casinos.
Working as a Team
SJM RG working group, which comprises various SJM departments together with YOC, is the hub to coordinate and compromise resources for promoting RG, monitoring RG measures and fulfilling all relevant RG requirements.
Advertisement
Advertise responsibly for all gaming promotional materials displaying in casinos. RG logos, Resilience Centre QR codes and hotline are shown on all promotional materials.
Our Employees Training and Continuous Development
All new employees receive a session of RG training in the orientation programme. Annual RG training is offered to RG team members and new RG team members. RG training DVD materials are also shown on screens in staff area annually as part of the RG refresher training. SJM encourages and assigns RG team members to join the Macau Responsible Gaming Advisor (MRGA) training and Advanced MRGA training courses. SJM also sponsors a number of outstanding RG team members to attend the Canadian Certified Counsellor (CGC) training course in Macau each year.
SJM has an active role in RG promotion by periodically organising RG activities and competitions, RG seminar and talks for SJM staff. Arrange onsite services, counselling services and funfair relating to RG on selected SJM casinos for further promotion and staff awareness. SJM Mobile App also provides staff relevant RG information.
SJM RG working group works closely with all departments concerned and DICJ to implement and execute all measures on the requirements of off duty casino entry ban.
Continuous Improvement
Organise site visit to SJM casinos and self-assessment on a regular basis for the continuous improvement of all RG measures. SJM strives to achieve the standard or above the standard as officially required.
Our Commitment to Customers
Promote RG to customers by displaying RG posters in gaming areas and RG stickers on Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs), offering RG leaflets and House Advantages information, showing onsite RG team member assistance phone number on RG posters and RG stands.
RG Kiosk and Station
Official RG kiosks are installed in all SJM casinos, and RG station is installed at Casino Grand Lisboa Palace, that the kiosk and station not only equip with online RG games, financial advices, RG assistances and displays RG messages but also offers an alternative channel for self-exclusion application.
Self-Exclusion and Third party Exclusion
Any Macau resident, foreign worker or tourist may apply for self-exclusion, whereas the related family members or the second degree relatives may apply for third party exclusion; to prohibit oneself or someone from entering all or some of the casinos for a maximum period of two years.
The forms for self-exclusion and third party exclusion are available in all SJM casinos. SJM appropriately takes care of anyone who may need help and may refer to YOC, other social welfare organisations and government departments concerned.
